School of Hotel Administration Celebratory Breakfast

The School of Hotel Administration is pleased to invite you and your family to a special celebratory breakfast with Dean Michael D. Johnson.

Statler Hotel, Ballroom, 2nd Floor

You MUST RSVP for the January 2015 Commencement Recognition Event by noon, December 12.

* Please note: there is a separate RSVP for the University's Ceremony.

Each student will be included in a slide show montage to be shown during breakfast. Additionally, each student will be recognized and professionally photographed shaking hands with Dean Michael Johnson during the ceremony.

University Commencement Ceremony (all colleges)

Event Schedule - December 20, 2014

  • 9:15 a.m.: Guests may begin arriving at Barton Hall
  • 9:15 - 9:30 a.m.: Students register & assemble in Barton Hall
  • 10:00 - 11:15 a.m.: Recognition Event in Barton Hall
  • 11:15 a.m. - noon: Coffee Reception in Barton Hall

Students must RSVP online by December 17 if they plan to attend the event. There is no limit to the number of guests who may attend, and there are no tickets for this event.

Students must arrive in Barton Hall between 9:15 and 9:30 a.m. to register and assemble for the procession. Students should enter Barton Hall from Garden Avenue (Teagle Hall side of Barton) and follow the signs to the area by the red curtain that is across the middle of the room.

Each students will go to the table by his/her college sign and be given a card with his/her name and email information. Students MUST carry the cards to their seats, during the procession. These are used to read the students' names during the ceremony, and will be used to email a photo proof to each student's provided address later in January.

Ushers in red jackets will instruct students to line up in the appropriate locations before, during, and after the ceremony. Ushers will collect the cards after the students are seated.

During the ceremony, each college will be asked to stand and approach the stage. Readers from each college will read the students' names from the cards as students cross the stage. Each student will walk across the stage to shake hands with his/her college dean and the president.

After the ceremony, students, family members, and guests may enjoy the reception. Congratulations!

Cap and Gown

Wearing the cap and gown is both traditional and required for participation in the ceremony. Students may obtain a tassel, cap, and gown for the ceremony and return the cap and gown immediately afterward. Students may keep their tassels. You will be able to order online starting in October. Please refer to the university Commencement website for more information.

Pickup Location Information

Instructions for pre-orders and walk-in orders:

  • Dates: December 18 (Thurs) or December 19 (Fri)
  • Times: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. each day
  • Location: Teagle Hall, Multi-Purpose Room
  • Cost: see above (add $10 cash for walk-in orders)

If you cannot pick up your cap & gown by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, please know that it will be at Barton Hall for you to get on Saturday morning, starting at 8:45 a.m.

  • Date: December 20 (Sat)
  • Time: starting at 8:45 a.m. If you must wait until Saturday, please plan to arrive at Barton Hall between 8:45 and 9:15 a.m. to allow time to receive your outfit, get dressed, and line up in time for the procession.
  • Location: Barton Hall (enter from Garden Ave and look for "Student Pickup Area" to the right)
  • Cost: see above (add $10 cash for walk-in orders)

Students MUST return cap & gown, but tassel is yours to keep.
