Answers to Frequently-Asked Questions

What kinds of services does the Communication Center provide?
The Communication Center provides free consulting for written and oral assignments. We can also assist you with recurring writing problems you may have. We help Hotel School students further develop and fine-tune their communication skills to be industry leaders. The Communication Center is not a remedial service—even great students sometimes need help.

Who is eligible to receive consults?
All Hotel School undergraduates and MMH students.

How do I take advantage of the Communication Center's services?

  • Two days or more in advance: Make an appointment by completing the web form or by calling 255.8263.
  • Less than one day in advance or same day: Check for available drop-in times on the schedule posted outside Statler Hall, Room 330.
  • Bring two copies of the assignment you would like to work on and the original assignment sheet.

Can I always get an appointment?
We have a limited number of consultants. If you wait until the last minute, you may not be able to get help, so try to make your appointments in advance to ensure that you get the appointment times you want.  Please be on time for your appointments: if you are late, your consultant may help someone else.

What if I need to cancel an appointment?
