Preparing for the Job Search
The preparation we are asking you to do is a process of interconnected activities that uses a wide range of resources available in our office and across Cornell. Our Career Management staff is here to help you navigate the process.
Know Yourself: As a Hotelie, you've already completed the first part of this process! By selecting the Hotel School, you know that you want to work in the hospitality industry. Your faculty advisor, the Career Management staff, and Career Management programs will help you focus on academic concentrations and other crucial skills you need to develop.
Explore Your Options: Enter your profile on CornellTrak, start preparing your résumé and getting feedback from an advisor, and start researching companies that interest you.
Take Action: Now put it all together. First, polish your shoes and make sure your suit is pressed. Then organize all your networking contacts, identify job and internship opportunities, practice interviewing, and get ready to negotiate an offer.
Don't panic! This web site, our Career Management advisors, the faculty, and our alumni are your partners in this process. Take your time to review this web site, and chat with your faculty advisor or a Career Management advisor, and they will help you get started.
