Professional Biography
James W. Hesford is assistant professor of accounting at the School of Hotel Administration. Hesford has a PhD in accounting from the University of Southern California and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. His research interests are in managerial accounting, with a focus on managerial control, the design and use of cost systems, and issues related to marketing. He has published in Accounting, Organizations and Society, the Cornell Hotel and Restaurant Administration Quarterly and the Journal of Competitive Intelligence and Management. Hesford has taught undergraduate, graduate and executive education courses. Before earning his PhD, Hesford held positions as a marketing manager in the semiconductor industry and as an engineer in the consumer electronics and broadcasting industries. He has supervised consulting projects with numerous firms including Delta Dental, Monsanto and MasterCard International. From 1998-2004 he was assistant professor of accounting at Washington University in St. Louis.
