CHR Visiting Research Scholars
Guidelines for Visiting Research Scholars
Ming Cheng is a Marketing Science PhD student at Rutgers Business School. She holds both an M.S. and a B.S. from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications' School of Economics and Management. She also holds a B.S. in Economics from Renmin University of China.
Her research interests span a range of search engine and database marketing issues. As a CHR Visiting Scholar Ming will collaborate with Cornell researchers in examining consumer behavior and search engine marketing in the Chinese Hospitality industry.
Dr. Hyunjeong (Spring) Han received her Ph.D. in Hotel Management from Kyonggi University, an M.S. from Hanyang University, and a B.S. from Sungkyunkwan University in Korea. Prior to her current appointment, she was a lecturer at the School of Tourism at Kyonggi University in Seoul, Korea. She taught courses on financial management and hotel accounting.
Her current research interests include financial/strategic management, corporate culture, and operations/marketing interrelated issues. She has published peer-reviewed articles in Korean Journal of Hotel Administration, Korean Journal of Korean Convention Research, and other journals. She has presented her research in several international conferences including QUIS12th (the 12th International Research Symposium on Service Excellence in Management Conference), 38th International Tourism Symposium; Korean Academic Society of Hospitality Administration, 12th International Academic Conference; Korea Convention Society, 31th Academic Conference; Korea Academic Society of Tourism Management. At CHR, Dr. Han will be collaborating with CHR Fellows and Cornell's School of Hotel Administration's faculty members on research projects related to service innovation and their impact on financial performance.
Dr. Michael McCall, a Professor of Marketing at Ithaca College, is a Visiting Scholar in the School of Hotel Administration, and a Research Fellow of the Cornell Center for Hospitality Research. He earned his Ph.D. in experimental and applied social psychology from Arizona State University and has published over 40 academic articles. He teaches a variety of marketing courses, in the areas of marketing services, pricing and consumer behavior. His primary research program focuses on the role of customer reward programs in creating customer loyalty, rebate programs, and perceptions of value among competing hospitality and service products. His work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Center for Hospitality Research and has appeared in the Journal of Applied Psychology, Cornell Hospitality Quarterly, Journal of Socio-Economics, and the International Journal of Hospitality Management, among others.
Dr. Angel Peiro is a visiting scholar at the Center for Hospitality Research at the School of Hotel Administration, Cornell University, where he will study the relationships between eco-innovation, environmental orientation, and firms' characteristics in the hospitality industry. A freelance consultant in industrial engineering related topics, Dr. Peiro is an industrial engineer and materials engineer who holds a Master in Business Administration and a Ph.D. in Management from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, where he is an assistant professor. Dr. Peiro's research interests include the economics of eco-innovation, especially the way in which environmental regulations affect the innovation process at firms. He has published several research papers and book chapters in prestigious journals.
Dr. Marival Segarra is a visiting scholar at the Center for Hospitality Research at the School for Hotel Administration, Cornell University, where she will study the relations between ecoinnovation, environmental orientation and firms' characteristics at the hospitality industry. Dr. Segarra is an Associate Professor at the Industrial Engineering School at Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain). She has a PhD in Management. Her research is focused on eco-innovation, sustainability and environmental proactivity and its economic valuation. She has published more than twenty articles in academic and professional journals including the International Journal of Environmental Research, European Planning Review and Environmental Engineering and Management Journal. She is the author of several book chapters published by prestigious editors such as Nova Publishers and Springer-Verlag. Dr. Segarra has conducted several PhD dissertations and seminars for companies.
