About Robert J. Kwortnik Ph.D.
Dr. Rob Kwortnik is an Assistant Professor of Marketing in the Marketing, Information Systems, Strategy, and Tourism area of Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration. Rob joined Cornell’s faculty in the fall of 2002 after earning his Ph.D. in Business Administration from Temple University. He also earned a BA in Journalism from Temple and an MBA from California State University, Northridge.

Rob’s research has appeared in the Cornell Hotel & Restaurant Administration Quarterly and Psychology & Marketing, and focuses on consumer behavior, with special attention to consumer decision making for experiential products and associated strategic implications for services marketing. Among the courses Rob has taught are services marketing, strategic management of marketing, marketing management for hospitality, and consumer behavior. He was honored with the Award for Excellence in Teaching by Doctoral Students by Temple University in 2002, and was named a Teacher of the Year by students at the Cornell Hotel School in 2004.

Prior to his career in academics, Rob held a number of professional positions in marketing, including public relations director for a children’s charity and marketing manager for a Los Angeles-based film and television studio. In addition, he has helped develop sales and marketing training programs for Marriott International, the American Automobile Association, the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Hawaiian Visitors Bureau, and Cruise Lines International Association. Among Rob’s writing credits, he is the lead author of the textbook, Essentials of Travel Packaging: Creating, Marketing, and Managing the Travel Product (Lexington, KY: National Tour Association, 1998).
