Jeff Shay

Dr. Shay is the Johnson Professor of Entrepreneurship and Leadership at Washington & Lee University. Prior to that he was the Poe Professor of Entrepreneurship and taught entrepreneurship, international business, and strategic management for ten years at the University of Montana. He has also taught courses at London School of Economics, Peking University, Cornell University, and University of Brescia. Dr. Jeffrey P. Shay earned his Ph.D. at Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Business Administration at Babson College.

Dr. Shay was recognized in March 2006 as one of the Western Academy of Management's Ascendant Scholars, an award given to scholars who make an early and significant impact on their field. Dr. Shay's research has been published in Academy of Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, International Journal of Cross-cultural Management, Long Range Planning, Journal of Management Inquiry, Journal of International Management, Case Research Journal, Journal of Management Education, Cornell Hotel and Restaurant Administration Quarterly, and International Journal of Organizational Analysis. In addition, he has presented his research and received best paper awards at Academy of Management, Western Academy of Management, and the North American Case Research Association Conferences.

Dr. Shay's professional experience includes providing strategic planning, international business planning, and new venture development consulting services through his company, Shay Consulting International. His most recent clients include: Bank of Montana, Bounceback.com, Bitterroot Resort, Blue Cross - Blue Shield Montana, Benchmark Simulations, PowerWater Beverages, Watson Children Shelter, Montana World Trade Center, Big Sky Brewing Company, Precision Partners, and the Inland Northwest Space Alliance (NASA). He provides these services in order to keep current with the practical application of what he teaches in his courses. Dr. Shay has over 20 years of consulting experience in these areas.
