Sheryl Kimes

sheryl kimesSheryl E. Kimes is a professor of operations management at the Hotel School. From 2005 to 2006, she served as interim dean of the Hotel School and from 2001 to 2005, she also served as the school's director of graduate studies. Professor Kimes teaches restaurant revenue management, yield management, and food and beverage management. She has been named the school's Graduate Teacher of the Year three times.

Her research interests include revenue management and forecasting in the hotel, restaurant, and golf industries. She has published more than 50 articles in leading journals such as Interfaces, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Service Research, Journal of Operational Research, and the Cornell Hotel and Restaurant Administration Quarterly. She is the author/co-author of more than 50 national and international conference papers and has been an invited speaker at numerous international conferences. She was awarded the La Quinta Research Fellowship, and has received 15 university research grants.

Professor Kimes serves as a consultant to many business enterprises around the world. Her work is focused primarily on maximizing revenue management practices. As involved as she is in the Hotel School, Dr. Kimes has also found time to serve the hospitality industry as a consultant to many business enterprises around the world, including Chevy's FreshMex Restaurants, Walt Disney World Resorts, Ruby's Diners, Starwood Asia-Pacific, and Troon Golf. Her work as a consultant primarily focuses on maximizing revenue management practices. Professor Kimes earned her doctorate in 1987 from the University of Texas at Austin. She also holds an MBA from New Mexico State University; a MAPA from the University of Virginia; and an AB from the University of Missouri.
