Michael Kasavana
Michael L. Kasavana, PhD, CHTP, is the NCE Endowed Professor in the School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University. His teaching and research efforts are sharply focused on information technology applications for hotels, restaurants, clubs, vending, and casinos. He is an active industry consultant and a popular seminar speaker. Dr. Kasavana has authored or co-authored numerous books, including Managing Front Office Operations (sixth edition), Menu Engineering (third edition), Managing Technology in the Hospitality Industry (fourth edition) and Untangling the Web. He has written many journal articles as well as a series of instructional software products. He is a member of the HFTP International Technology Hall of Fame, and a recipient of FS/TEC's Distinguished Achievements in Food Service Technology Award. In addition, he has garnered the coveted MSU Distinguished Faculty Award, the MSU Broad College of Business Withrow Teacher-Scholar Award, Academic Spartan of the Year Award, and the MSU Teacher-Scholar Award. Dr. Kasavana received his BS in hotel, restaurant and travel administration, his MBA in finance, and his PhD in management information systems from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst.
