Robert Ford

Robert C. Ford (PhD, Arizona State University) is currently a professor of management at the University of Central Florida's College of Business Administration. He joined UCF in 1993 as chair of the Department of Hospitality Management and later became associate dean for graduate and external programs until 2003. He also was a member of the management faculty of the University of North Florida and served as management department chair and member of the faculty at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has authored or co-authored more than 100 articles, books, and presentations on management and organizations focusing on human-resource management and services management topics, especially on achieving service excellence in healthcare and hospitality. He has published in a wide variety of journals including the Journal of Applied Psychology, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, California Management Review, Cornell Quarterly, and The Executive. His texts include Principles of Management: A Decision Making Approach, Organization Theory, Managing the Guest Experience in Hospitality and Achieving Service Excellence: Strategies for Healthcare. Dr. Ford has also been an active professional serving the Academy of Management as the director of placement and the division chair for both the management history and the management education and management development divisions. In addition, he has been the chair of the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration and the president of the Southern Management Association. He currently is a fellow of the Southern Management Association and the editor of the Academy of Management Executive.
