Welcome to the Cornell Hospitality Quarterly (CQ), which is managed by Sage Publications on behalf of Cornell University.

The Center for Hospitality Research publishes CQ for the benefit of both academics and practitioners involved in the hospitality industry. Unlike most narrow-concept journals, CQ has a broadly defined mission of carrying the best in useful management research from any area of the hospitality industry. Within that broad scope, each issue contains focus areas that allow you to concentrate on the specific topics most important to you while still keeping you ahead of prevailing industry concerns. Each issue contains executive summaries of its feature articles, so you can immediately determine which articles are most useful for you. The CQ also brings you the following regular industry features: Smith Travel Research Industry Barometer, and the PKF Industry Analysis.

Aims and Scope:

The primary objective of the CQ is to publish articles that provide timely and actionable prescription for hospitality management practice and research. We aim to help all of those involved or interested in the hospitality industry – academics, managers and executives, owners and developers, consultants, investors, and students – to keep up-to-date on the latest research findings and insights in order to improve business practices and stay informed about successful business strategies. The articles we publish are based on important, industry challenges that are examined using rigorous methods of inquiry. The content addresses a broad range of topics that are relevant to hospitality, travel, and tourism and related services contexts, including strategic management, human resources, marketing, finance, real estate, accounting, operational management, facilities and design, information systems and technology, communications, travel and tourism, and general management.

You can contact Sage Publications using the links below, including searching for past articles. Hosted by Sage, the CQ's article-search database contains thousands of articles published since the journal's inception in 1960. Individual articles may be ordered and many are available on a pay-per-view basis.

CQ Editor Offers Guidance for Prospective Authors

Professor Bruce Tracey, editor of the Cornell Hospitality Quarterly, explains his philosophy for the journal, and discusses the type of papers that the CQ would most like to publish. He outlines the objective to publish articles that begin by addressing an important industry challenge or concern, and then examines that challenge using a strong theoretical or empirical base that provides insights for improving hospitality management and industry knowledge.
