Ithaca, NY, July 15, 2005 - Cheri Farrell has been named Outreach Ambassador for the Cornell University School of Administration, the School announced today. Farrell, who has held many leadership positions during her 33-year career at the School, begins this new part-time role effective today after a brief retirement.

Farrell will support the School's outreach to alumni, friends and corporate partners. She will concentrate her efforts on developing resources for the School's Center for Hospitality Research and its Alumni Affairs and Development Office. The Center for Hospitality Research is supported by more than 40 corporate partners and friends around the globe. The School also maintains close ties with more than 10,000 alumni, many of whom hold corporate and civic leadership positions worldwide.

"One of the great strengths of our School is the close relationships we have cultivated with our alumni, friends and corporate partners," said Sherri Kimes, acting dean at the School. "Cheri Farrell has played an important role in developing those relationships over her long and distinguished career. We are pleased that she has agreed to help us as we work to strengthen existing relationships and foster new ones."

During her many years overseeing the admissions function, Farrell interviewed more than half of the School's graduates. Through the years she has served as a personal conduit between many alumni and the School, and her appointment as Outreach Ambassador has been warmly received by alumni and friends.

"Cheri Farrell embodies the essence of the Cornell Hotel School," said Richard A. Holtzman, class of 1976, and president of Kukui'ula Development Co., LLC in Hawaii. "She has boundless spirit and enthusiasm for the School. Her appointment is comforting news for the thousands of alumni and friends who hold the School in the same esteem. She is uniquely qualified to help the School build partnerships that will keep Cornell at the forefront of hospitality management education."

The Cornell University School of Hotel Administration is shaping the global knowledge base for hospitality management through leadership in education, research and industry advancement.
