Cornell Hotel School's Center for Hospitality Research partners with leading Asian firm, The Kohinoor Group

ITHACA, N.Y., APRIL 8, 2004 - Leading Indian hospitality firm The Kohinoor Group has joined the corporate partners program at the Cornell Hotel School's Center for Hospitality Research to support international research that advances operating practices in the hospitality industry.

"We are very pleased to add this distinguished firm from Asia to our list of leading companies that help set the research agenda for our Center," said Gary Thompson, executive director of the Center. "This partnership will help us meet our goal of expanding our international research focus, especially in Asia, a fast-growing market ripe with opportunity for hospitality research."

The Kohinoor Group has interests in real estate, hospitality, education, and energy. Headquartered in Mumbai, Kohinoor was founded in 1961 by Shri Manohar Joshi as a vocational education provider. This diversified entity has a presence in over 30 cities in India and owns hotels and restaurants in Mumbai. Its main campus is near Mumbai, supported by international undergraduate programs and other campuses in China, Mauritius, and South Asia, as well as affiliations with Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, and IMI International in Lucerne, Switzerland. Kohinoor also has partners across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.

The Kohinoor Group is led by Unmesh Joshi, chairman and managing director, whose vision is for Kohinoor to lead through hospitality management and education to drive growth on a global scale.
