Forbes Travel Guide
Shane O'Flaherty is president and CEO for Forbes Travel Guide, (formerly Mobil Travel Guide) the leading authority on hotel, restaurant and spa star ratings in the US, Canada, Hong Kong/Macau and Beijing, China. Shane is responsible for the overall strategic direction, development and operations of Forbes Travel Guide’s publishing, online and consulting businesses. Prior to joining Forbes Travel Guide in 2000, Shane was director of business and leisure marketing for Preferred Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. At Preferred, he was recognized as one of the "Rising Stars" in the travel industry for 1999 by Travel Agent magazine.
Prior to Preferred, O'Flaherty was director of the Berlitz International Language Center in Schaumburg, Illinois, where he supervised a school specializing in language and cross-cultural business practices. Previous assignments include positions with United Airlines in San Francisco, California, and International Educational Services in Osaka, Japan. Shane is a frequent guest speaker at industry events and has had significant national media exposure. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and was born in Dublin, Ireland. Shane is based in Chicago, Illinois.
