Michael Egan

Chairman and Founder
job.travel

As an entrepreneur and founder of several travel companies, Michael S. Egan established job.travel in 2007.  Designed as a premium on-line job site, job.travel focuses solely on matching job seekers and employers in the travel and hospitality industry.  With vast knowledge of the industry and its needs, Egan plans to evolve job.travel and .travel domain names to the definitive websites for everything travel related.

Egan continues to lead and inspire various other travel and investment endeavors.  He currently serves as the chairman of Certified Vacations, a privately held wholesale travel company.  He also is the controlling investor of Dancing Bear Investments, Inc., a privately held investment company, as well as the principal shareholder of Tralliance Corporation, which is the official registry of .travel, a top-level Internet domain name.

As living proof that dedication and determination are key elements to becoming a successful entrepreneur; Egan transformed a job in a struggling car rental agency in 1973 into a 30 year career as an industry leader.  Egan began with Alamo in 1973, became an owner in 1979, and became chairman and majority owner from 1986 to 1996, when he sold the company to AutoNation.  In 2000, AutoNation spun off the rental division, ANC Rental, and Egan was named chairman, and served in that position until 2003.  Never turning his attention away from the entrepreneurial spirit, Egan was the principal investor in Nantucket Nectars, which he later sold to Ocean Spray for an undisclosed amount.

Prior to his various business successes, Egan held various administration positions at Yale University and taught at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He is a graduate of Cornell University where he received his bachelor’s degree in hotel administration.  Remaining devoted to Cornell University and especially its hotel school, Egan continues as a long served member of its advisory board.
