Michael Flannery is currently the Chair of the Department of Behavioral Sciences at Purdue University Calumet in Hammond, Indiana, where he began teaching in 1982. His responsibilities include overseeing the disciplines of Hospitality, Psychology, Sociology, Nutrition, and Early Childhood Education including thirty full time professors, over 1,100 students, a Child Care Center, Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic, Fitness Center and over eighty-five adjunct faculty and support staff. In addition, he teaches Financial Management, Internal Controls and Cost Accounting.
In the course of his career, Michael has managed hotels, restaurants, and clubs. His consulting engagements include a variety of businesses specializing in the hospitality industry. He had a relationship with Lehman Brothers, evaluating hotel portfolios for acquisition and disposition. Michael has given many management development seminars in customer service, quality assurance, time management, and the various financial components of developing and financing real estate.
Mike received his education from the U.S. Navy Commissary School, Schenectady County Community College, and Cornell University.
Purdue and Cornell University honored Professor Flannery with awards during the 1988-89 academic year. The awards were in recognition of his consistently high evaluations with regard to participants gratification with the content of his lectures and his enthusiastic style of delivery.
