Course Focus
Financial statements are an important resource, providing key information to individuals across the firm. Managers inside and outside of finance refer to these reports when they need to assess the financial performance of their departments, their firms, and their competition.
Who Should Take this Course?
This course is necessary for all professionals who deal with financial reports and need to understand how to accurately interpret and use the data to improve efficiency and productivity for their department and organization.
Course Overview
This course covers how to interpret and analyze the three principal financial statements used to convey a firm's financial condition to its stakeholders and to the public. These statements are - the Balance Sheet, the Income Statement, and the Cash Flow Statement.
You will develop a solid understanding of the statements in Modules One through Four, and in Modules Five through Eight you will go on to evaluate financial performance by applying financial ratios. Specifically, you will evaluate asset management, assess short- and long-term solvency, assess profitability, and compute valuation.
By completing this course, you will acquire skills needed to assess the financial performance of your department and your entire organization – both over time and relative to competitors. Using ratio analysis, you will learn to identify areas of strong financial performance and those that need improvement. This skill will allow you to focus your attention appropriately and improve your own firms' overall financial performance.
