The Role of Mentors
Your experience is further enhanced by the presence of an online course mentor.
In addition to the academic credentials and practical experience required to lead courses and work with participants, our mentors have all been trained in facilitating in an online environment. They've also been trained and tested on the subject material and learning objectives of each course they teach. Mentors function to enrich the basic course material from their own expertise and experience and to help participants make the most effective use of their time.
You'll be expected to interact regularly with your mentor and fellow participants through the online discussions. Your discussions will be enriched by studying the interactive course materials: case studies, simulations, and presentations.
We recognize that the most effective learning is active, controlled by the learner. Your mentor functions as your primary resource and assistant in this process.
E-mailing Your Mentor
When you sign up for a course, you'll receive a welcome message directly from your mentor a few days prior to the start of your course, which will provide you with course-specific information.
You can always reach your mentor by e-mail, and you'll receive a reply within 24 hours on weekdays, or on Monday for messages sent over the weekend.
Office hours are specific times when your mentor will be connected to the course Chat page. He or she will inform you of these times before the course session starts.
