+ How do I apply to GMP?
Applying Online The application will be reviewed by the Office of Executive Education and we will contact you, usually within 24 hours, to advise you of your status.

+ What are the requirements to enroll in GMP?
GMP applicants include general managers, assistant general managers, executive assistant managers, and resident managers of full-service hotel properties.
While many cultures enrich the Cornell experience, English is the language of instruction in GMP. To participate in and benefit from the classes, participants must have well-developed English-language communication and reading comprehension skills.
+ Is there a deadline to apply?
Although there is no deadline to apply to GMP, you should apply as soon as possible to reserve a space in the class, make the necessary travel arrangements, and process your visa, if needed. Also, please note that some of the payment incentives have deadlines.
Fees and Payment
+ What is the cost of GMP, and what is included in the fee?
The fee for GMP 2010 is US$12,950.
The program fee includes all course materials, single-occupancy accommodations for 11 nights at The Statler Hotel, meals during the program, and first-year dues for affiliate membership in the Cornell Hotel Society, an alumni organization with an international membership of more than 10,000.

+ What is your cancellation policy?
Unless otherwise stated to you, the deposit is fully refundable if it becomes necessary for you to withdraw, and you provide written notice more than 45 days before the program begins. If notice is received 7-45 days in advance, the cancellation charge is $1,000. If notice is received less than seven days in advance, the cancellation charge is $2,500.
+ When do I have to pay?
A US$2,500 deposit is due after your application has been accepted, to secure your place in the program. Full payment of the program fee is due prior to the start of the program.
+ What methods of payment do you accept?
Full payment of the program fee is due prior to the start date, and can be made by credit card, check or wire transfer (see Make a Payment).
+ What additional costs will I incur?
Additional costs you may incur include, but are not limited to: transportation to and from Ithaca, hotel extras (such as laundry and telephone), additional nights at the hotel, meals before and after the program, alcoholic drinks, and personal activities and purchases.
+ What scholarships are available?
Currently, there are no scholarships available for the GMP. If your organization wishes to sponsor a scholarship, contact the Office of Executive Education.
You may also wish to check with local and regional hospitality/business associations to explore possible funding sources. Some organizations, such as the Caribbean Hotel Association, offer scholarship opportunities to their members.
Program Information
+ Is there an orientation?
A welcome reception and orientation dinner is held the first evening of GMP.
+ When do classes begin and end?
Most class sessions begin at 8:30 a.m. (0830 hr) and end at 5 p.m. (1700 hr) (see Schedule).
Please note: Attendance during all class sessions is required.
+ Can I arrive late or leave early?
Attendance during all class sessions is required.
At the end of the program, you are awarded a certificate of completion that attests to your achievement. It is very important that you are present at the graduation ceremony to receive your certificate.
+ Can I buy class material instead of attending the program?
We do not offer GMP class material for sale. It is only available to those who attend the program.
+ Can I record or videotape the classes?
Audio recording or video taping of the classes is strictly prohibited.
Travel and Lodging
+ Where will I be housed during the program?
Single-occupancy accommodations for the duration of the program are arranged for you at The Statler Hotel, at the heart of Cornell's Ithaca campus. (The Statler Hotel is a non-smoking facility.)
+ Where will I be dining?
The program fee includes meals during the program. Breakfast in the hotel is at your convenience. Group lunches are served in a private dining room.
You will also have the option of dining in selected local restaurants on nights when dinner events are not scheduled. Transportation will be available on these evenings to transport groups to and from their restaurant of choice. This will give you another opportunity to network with your peers, and to experience more of our charming city. Ithaca boasts many fine restaurants offering an array of menu items, and a selection of award-winning New York State wines.
+ Is there internet access available in the Statler Hotel?
Yes. All guestrooms include complimentary wired high speed Internet access. An Ethernet cable is provided in each room at no charge. Alternative dial-up Internet access is also available in guestrooms by connecting your modem cable to the guestroom telephone. (Note: Customary hotel telephone charges will apply when using this method.) Complimentary wireless access is available in the hotel's public areas and in the Hotel School.
If you do not bring a computer, you can still access the Internet at no charge via a limited number of computer stations in the hotel.
Also, as a program participant, you may use the Binenkorb Computer Laboratory and the Nestle Library in the Hotel School, but please note that hours may be limited.
+ How do I get a visa?

+ Can you assist with my flight or other travel arrangements?
Participants must make their own travel arrangements, however we would be pleased to provide general information and answer questions. See Traveling to Ithaca.
+ What is the appropriate or suggested attire for class?
To promote a comfortable learning environment, attire for the General Managers Program is casual and informal, including the opening night event. Casual dress is also acceptable for dining in most local restaurants. However, business attire is recommended for the group photograph and graduation banquet.
If you are more comfortable in attire that is customary or traditional in your country, you may certainly dress accordingly.
+ What should I be sure to pack?
Although the temperature in the conference facilities is controlled, you may also wish to bring a light jacket or sweater for your personal comfort. You should also bring outdoor clothing and footwear suitable for the season's weather.
If you are traveling from outside of the United States, you may wish to bring an adapter for any electrical devices you have (such as a computer or razor). The Statler Hotel uses 110- 120volts A/C at 60 cycles. Adapters are very difficult to purchase in Ithaca, so please plan ahead.
Please bring with you a basic calculator for use in class. We will have some extras on hand if needed.
+ What is the weather like in Ithaca?
In January, winter temperatures vary from -5º to 30º F, (-20º to -1º C), and snow accumulation is expected.
June's summer temperatures vary during the day from 70º to 95º F (21º to 35º C), and 60º to 70º F (15º to 21º C) in the evenings. Extreme lows of 40º F (4º C) and highs of 100º F (38º C) have been recorded, but are very unusual. Rain showers are not uncommon.

+ Can my family members accompany me?
We discourage participants from bringing family members. The program is rigorous and time demands on participants are not limited to the daytime sessions. In addition, there are group assignments and networking events that occupy many nights.
