Veteran Entrepreneurs Ring the Bell to Close Wall Street Session

EBV program for disabled veterans comes to Cornell in 2012
Graduates of the rapidly growing Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV) program were invited to visit the floor of the New York Stock Exchange on January 9, 2012. As part of the visit, members of the EBV team were on the bell podium when graduate Elizabeth Perez-Halperin rang the bell to close the session. Founded in 2007 at Syracuse University, EBV will be held September 29 – October 6, 2012, at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration, under guidance of the Pillsbury Institute for Hospitality Entrepreneurship (PIHE). PIHE Academic Director Neil Tarallo joined the EBV graduates for their NYSE visit.
Cornell is one of eight universities that offer this program, which provides entrepreneurial education at no charge to post-9/11 disabled veterans. Because it is based at the School of Hotel Administration, the Cornell EBV will focus particularly on hospitality- and real estate-related entrepreneurial ideas. Tarallo points out that a particular benefit of the Cornell program is that the EBV participants will work with Cornell students who are focused on being entrepreneurs.
With a strong group of corporate sponsors, EBV provides both free tuition and living assistance to disabled veterans who are planning to start their own companies. Perez-Halperin is president and founder of GC Green, a green-build general contracting and consulting firm.
