For Students
The summer internship program is designed for our students who have a strong interest in entrepreneurship. Through their experience, interns learn what it takes to make an idea come to life – and to make a business work. Interns work directly with senior leaders. They take on real responsibilities. They make valued strategic and tactical contributions. They innovate.
Internship Criteria
1. Internship Duration – Internships begin in late May or early June and normally last 10 weeks.
2. Intern Compensation and Living Expenses – Sponsoring companies pay a competitive salary. Housing and transportation arrangements are the intern’s responsibility; however, any support and/or information a sponsoring company can provide regarding summer rentals, transit centers, etc. is helpful.
3. Intern Reporting Relationship – Interns report to an entrepreneur or senior executive accountable for a major business activity within the sponsoring company.
Student Application Process
1. Browse Internships. For a list of current internship opportunities, search Cornell’s CCNET summer and part-time job listings by internship, key word "PIHE."
2. Apply. Send your resume, cover letter, and any additional requirements to pihe@cornell.edu. Please be sure to clearly identify the job number(s) for which you are applying. Once the institute receives your application materials, a copy will be forwarded to a representative at each company to which you are applying.
3. Interview. Sponsoring companies will contact you based on their interest in your application. While the institute manages the internship program and works closely with both participating students and companies, it is the company’s responsibility to schedule and carry-out interviews.
4. Offer. All offers of summer employment are made by the sponsoring company.
