Professional Biography

Susan S. Fleming, Ph.D., is a senior lecturer at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration. A graduate of the University of Virginia, she is also a senior lecturer at the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell (JGSM). She is an educator, researcher, businesswoman, and mother with deep expertise in the areas of finance, investing, business strategy, organizational behavior, and gender diversity. She has held various positions in the investment community, including at Morgan Stanley & Co.; Insurance Partners, L.P.; and Capital Z Financial Services Partners. After retiring from Wall Street in 2003, Fleming became an educator and earned her PhD in management from JGSM and conducted research on the factors contributing to a dearth of women in leadership positions in U.S. society. She currently serves on the boards of Virtus Investment Partners, Inc.; Endurance Specialty Holdings, Ltd.; and Educate the Children, which works with women and children of Nepal through literacy education, scholarships, and microfinance.
