Annual Fund
Annual fund support enhances the student experience by providing critical scholarship support that sustains Cornell’s commitment to access through need-blind admissions and need-based financial aid.
Each year the School of Hotel Administration directs all of its unrestricted funds to financial aid. Currently, the Hotel School’s financial aid budget is approximately $6 million annually; $2 million of which is provided by the return on the School’s 300 plus endowed scholarships. This leaves a $4 million gap that must be made up through the School’s operating budget. For 2006-2006, the School directed all of its unrestricted funds from the Cornell Annual Fund (more than $500,000) to help offset this gap. These gifts are significant when you consider that the equivalent endowment required to generate this level of funding would equal more than $10 million!
