Faculty Road Show
Great programming can enhance Cornell Hotel Society chapter events, and the Faculty Road Show is one way to do just that! Alumni surveys show that inviting distinguished faculty members of the Hotel School to share their research and expertise, attracts high ratings.
How do I arrange for a faculty member to be a guest speaker?
Contact the Alumni Affairs Office, 607-255-3565, or email hotelsociety@sha.cornell.edu to make your request. Please be sure to tell us the date, time, format of your event, along with any specific requests or chapter needs. The Alumni Affairs office will coordinate with the faculty member and the School's Academic Dean to confirm requests, providing the date does not conflict with the School's academic schedule and other faculty committments.
How are expenses handled?
Chapters pay for the speaker's event fee (if any), hotel accommodations, and food and beverages during their stay. Travel expenses are paid for through the generosity of the Cornell Hotel Society. The Alumni Affairs Office will coordinate reimbursement for travel with the faculty member.
For those chapters outside the continental U.S., prohibitive travel costs will preculde sending faculty members abroad for a single visit. Should the faculty member have previously scheduled travel to a particular region, and a chapter would like to invite them to speak, international chapters are urged to make their request far in advance so that travel and chapter event schedules can be coordinated.
