Application

On-line Applications will be available in early August

You must submit an application online to be considered an official applicant.  You can save and re-edit all of your application until you are ready to submit your official application.

We cannot confirm receipt of any application materials until the application is officially submitted.

Résumé

Follow detailed steps for how to upload a current résumé (curriculum vitae) that indicates your education and employment history.  Please include specific start and end dates for the positions you have held (i.e., use month and year, such as March 2010–May 2011 instead of just 2010–2011).

Official Academic Transcripts

Send official academic transcripts from all colleges/universities you have attended to:

MMH Office of Admissions
180 Statler Hall
Ithaca, NY 14853-6902

Transcripts should indicate all courses you have taken, grades received in each, degree you earned, and date the degree was conferred.

The equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree is required to apply. If your transcript is not in English, please submit an official and certified English translation in addition to an original copy.  World Education Services (WES), a third-party verification agency, can provide this service.

Official transcripts may also be submitted electronically. Follow detailed steps for how to submit official transcripts.

GMAT

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is required of all applicants.   Use code 5JW-C3-61 when filling out the GMAT registration to have your scores sent to us.

There is no minimum GMAT score required for admission to the MMH program, however admitted candidates typically have performed well.

We do not accept GRE scores.

Two Letters of Evaluation

Two letters of evaluation are required.  At least one should be from a recent employer who can attest to your work-related skills and the second may be from either an academic or additional professional source.  Follow detailed steps for how to submit MMH evaluation forms.

Interview

Requests for Interviews will be accepted in early August of the admission cycle.

Applicants are required to complete an interview.  All Ithaca applicants have the option of interviewing on Cornell's campus or with an MMH alumnus in your geographic area, or if you are applying to the CNI program, Cornell-Nanyang's Singapore campus. You must begin the online application in order to request an interview.   Your interview must be complete prior to your chosen application deadline.

Please do not request both an on-campus and off-campus interview.

On-campus interviews are conducted by faculty or staff members.  Whenever possible we encourage you to participate in one of our scheduled on-campus interview days. You will have the opportunity to attend an information session, sit in on classes, converse with current students, faculty and staff.  You will also be able to explore our facilities and the surrounding area.

We recognize that coming to campus is not always possible, and there is no penalty for having an off-campus interview.  Off-campus interviews are conducted by MMH alumni.

On the day of your interview you will be asked to bring a résumé for your interviewer to keep and to complete a brief writing sample.  The writing sample will be completed in conjunction with your interview time and should be an original work composed during the time allotted.  This exercise is used as a measure of your ability to communicate effectively and as a means of assessing the authenticity of the rest of the writing in your application.

Please note these admissions interview request pages are only for graduate applicants.

TOEFL (International applicants only)

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required of applicants whose native language is not English.

The TOEFL requirement may be waived if the applicant meets at least one of these criteria:

  • Is a native citizen of the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or Canada (except Quebec). Applicants who are citizens of India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Hong Kong, or Singapore, are not exempt from the TOEFL requirement.
  • Studied in full-time status for at least two academic years within the last five years in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand, or with English language instruction in Canada or South Africa.  You must submit a transcript that shows you have attended college in one of these approved locations.

Cornell’s official minimum sub-scores for each element of the TOEFL are:

IBT Version:

Writing: 20
Listening: 15
Reading: 20
Speaking: 22

PBT Version:

550 minimum score

  • If you receive your test results and any sub-score does not meet the requirement, you should make arrangements to retake the test.
  • Please request TOEFL scores to be sent to:
Cornell University Graduate School, Code #2098.
  • Students should submit all required tests well in advance of the application. Please note that we cannot confirm receipt of test scores until the student has submitted an online application and is an official applicant.

International students may also be required to pass a writing benchmark. All of our classes are in English and require participation in class discussions, as well as intensive writing, reading, and involvement in group projects.  Successful candidates will have a full command of both spoken and written English.  Even if your TOEFL score exceeds the minimum requirement, you may still be required to enroll in an intensive English course, preferably in the United States, before you begin the program.

Financial Responsibility Form (admitted international applicants only)

International students who are admitted to the MMH program will be required to complete a Financial Responsibility Form (FRF) for the Ithaca campus or the Singapore campus that certifies you can cover the cost of tuition for the full year of the program.

International students who have been admitted will be contacted by the MMH office with further instructions on completing the FRF.  Submission of this form is required before an I-20 form (needed to obtain a visa to study in the United States) can be released.

For additional information about immigration requirements, please contact the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) at Cornell or the International Student Centre at Nanyang Technological University.  Each office can help with a variety of issues, from travel information to immigration status, to campus orientation and more.
