Financing Opportunities - Singapore
We urge all students to investigate possible sources of financial aid including loans and outside grants. Some students have received support from their employers in exchange for agreeing to return to work for a specified amount of time. Chambers of Commerce, Fulbright offices, government agencies, trade associations, and foundations are other possible sources of funding.
The following scholarship opportunities are available for students applying to the Singapore campus:

InterContinental Hotels Group "Collaboration" Scholarship
InterContinental Hotels Group is offering a postgraduate scholarship called the “Collaboration” Scholarship, which embraces the principles of leadership, team spirit, growth, and cultural diversity - for students in the Master of Management in Hospitality (MMH) Program at the Cornell-Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management (CNI).
The scholarship reflects InterContinental Hotels Group's philosophy: "Our people contribute significantly to the company's overall success and we know that our current employees' enthusiasm, energy, and expertise enable the company to live and grow. They share our vision and commitment to create and deliver special experiences so that our customers will want to return again and again. In order for us to maintain our leadership in these markets, we need to continue to employ people who are passionate about what we do."
InterContinental Hotels Group would like to nurture local talent, grooming future leaders who will front their expansion and growth plans in the Asia Pacific region, particularly in China.
Eligibility
Open to Chinese nationals and InterContinental Hotels Group employees. The recipient of this scholarship must not concurrently hold scholarships or bursaries from other donor companies for the academic year.
Quantum
The value of each scholarship award is US$75,000.
Selection Criteria
Candidates are appraised on their academic achievements, personal attributes, and career track record. Applicants must have gained acceptance to the MMH Program and be medically fit to pursue the course and future employment in the lodging industry.
Bond
Upon successful completion of the course, the recipient of the scholarship will be required to serve a bond with InterContinental Hotels Group for a period of two years.
Application
Your InterContinental Hotels Group Application is due by January 1, 2009 to be considered for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Singapore Tourism Board (STB) Scholarship
The STB Scholarship fund provides support for selected students of the Cornell-Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management (CNI) MMH program.
Eligibility
Open to all students who have gained admittance to the CNI MMH program. There is no restriction on nationality or background (e.g., in terms of working experience, age, field, or training, etc). Recipients of other scholarships or bursaries are not eligible to apply.
Quantum
The value of each scholarship award is S$70,000.
Selection Criteria
Award of scholarships will be based on merit.
Bond
Upon completion of the MMH program, recipients of the STB Scholarship for CNI will have to work in Singapore for any tourism and hospitality-related Company on a full-time basis for a period of three years.
Application
Submit your STB Scholarship Application due by January 1, 2009 to be considered for the 2009-2010 academic year.
The STB scholarship fund accepts contributions from corporate or individual donors so that more students can benefit from a scholarship. Companies or donors who are interested in offering a scholarship can also do a joint one by co-funding the cost of a scholarship with the STB Scholarship fund, and should contact CNI Program Office to do so.
This scholarship is open to nationals of member countries of ASEAN* (except Singapore) to pursue a designated full-time Masters degree by coursework and dissertation at NTU.
* ASEAN or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations consists of Brunei Darrussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
Eligibility criteria
- Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents are not eligible to apply
- Excellent academic record
- A very good command of the English language
- At least 2 years of working experience
- An acceptable score in the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)
- You should not be on paid employment or accept paid employment or concurrently hold any other scholarship, fellowship, bursary or top-up allowance during the prescribed period of the award
Bond
There is no bond attached to the scholarship. No deferment of scholarship awarded will be allowed. Awards that are not taken up will be given to other qualified candidates.
Each scholarship shall cover the following:
- Monthly stipend of S$1,350.00 (S$16,200 over the MMH program’s 12-month duration)
- One-time book allowance of S$500.00
- Tuition fee, health insurance, examination fee and other approved fees, allowances and expenses
- Cost of travel from home country to Singapore on award of the scholarship
- Cost of travel from Singapore to home country on successful completion of the Masters degree within the tenable period of the scholarship
Application
Applications for the ASEAN Scholarship will close on 31 December 2008 for admission into the 2009 MMH intake in May. The outcome of application will be released between end March 2009 to beginning April 2009 via email or post.

The HYK Scholarship, donated by Ho Yeow Koon & Sons (Pte. Ltd.) is a bursary award to be used towards tuition in the Master of Management in Hospitality (MMH) at the Cornell-Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management (CNI) for the span of an academic year.
Eligibility
Open to all applicants successfully accepted into the MMH program.
Quantum
The value of each scholarship award is SGD$78,000.
Selection Criteria
Candidates are selected based on their academic achievements, strong GMAT and TOEFL/IELTS (where applicable) scores, personal and leadership attributes.
Short-listed candidates will be interviewed and selected by the CNI Scholarship Selection Committee(s) and a representative from the Donor.
Recipients of the HYK Scholarship may not hold other award(s) concurrently for the CNI MMH Program.

The Paras Education Foundation (TPEF)
The Paras Education Foundation (TPEF) is a financial consultancy, helping all international students obtain student loans for study in over 6000 Universities / Colleges / Schools like USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland and more.
Eligibility
All international students, regardless of their country of origin or their nationality are eligible for the soft term study abroad loans.

Quantum
Loan limit is based on tuition fees + living + food expenses + book expenses + Computer/Laptop + Health Insurance + Miscellaneous expense. (Up to US$ 65,000 per Co-Signor)

Taj Scholarship
The Taj Group of Hotels, India’s leading hospitality chain has a diverse range of magnificent hotel properties. The Hotel Chain, consisting of a fine array of resorts and palaces is a pioneer in legendary hospitality services.

Quantum
Scholarship valued at USD$75,000. The selected candidates offered the scholarship will execute a service bond with the Indian Hotels Company Ltd., to serve the Taj for a minimum period of three years, after their completing the MMH qualification, and induction into the company in a suitable role with suitable responsibilities.
Criteria
Eligibility Criteria of the Taj: Employees in Grades E4-E6 and between 25-35 years having completed 3 years of service (post your training) as on 1st July 2008
