MMH
Financing Opportunities - Ithaca
We urge all students to investigate possible sources of financial aid including loans and outside grants. Some students have received support from their employers in exchange for agreeing to return to work for a specified amount of time. Chambers of Commerce, Fulbright offices, government agencies, trade associations, and foundations are other possible sources of funding.
Cornell University has been designated a direct lender by the U.S. government, which facilitates the loan application processing for students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Common sources of financial support include the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), G.I. Bill assistance, William D. Ford Federal Direct Loans, and Federal Perkins Loans.
The following scholarship opportunities are also available to students applying to the Ithaca campus:
- MBA Loans
- MMH Need-Based Scholarships
- MMH Merit-Based Scholarships
- Cornell Graduate School Fellowships
- The Paras Education Foundation (TPEF)
The MBA Loans Program is a private loan program cosponsored by the Graduate Management Admission Council and Sallie Mae, administered by the HEMAR Insurance Corporation of America. International students must have a creditworthy U.S. citizen or permanent resident as cosigner.
The MBA Excel Preferred Loan Program, administered by Nellie Mae, is another loan program available to MMH students. International students must have a creditworthy U.S. citizen or permanent resident as cosigner.
The Ithaca campus grants limited need-based aid for MMH students. It is assumed that Ithaca campus students will take out the full amount of the Federal Direct Loan (currently $18,500) before need-based scholarships are awarded. Both domestic and international students applying to the Ithaca campus are eligible to apply.
U.S. citizens and permanent residents should submit the following to the MMH Admissions Office no later than their corresponding application deadline:
- Student Aid Report (SAR), calculated from the FAFSA
- Federal Income Tax Return
- Need-Based MMH Scholarship Application Form (PDF 37KB)
For U.S. students and permanent residents, demonstrated need is determined from data submitted on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Students applying to the Ithaca campus must submit the 2009-2010 FAFSA form for funding for the summer of 2010, and then the 2010-2011 FAFSA for the fall of 2010 and spring of 2011.
Please send your 2009-2010 form to The Graduate School Loan Office (190 Caldwell Hall, Ithaca NY 14853-2602) by April 15, 2010, and then submit the 2010-2011 form by June 15, 2010. You can use your 2009 tax information for the 2009-2010 form, and then your 2010 tax information for the 2010-2011 forms.
