Distributive Electives
Students must take a minimum of 18 credits distributed among:
- Humanities; Languages; Fine and Performing Arts
- Social Sciences
- Mathematics; Physical and Biological Sciences
A minimum of 3 credits must be taken in each of these areas. A maximum of 6 credits in total, out of the 18, may be taken on a S/U basis—all others must be taken for a letter grade. Note that a maximum of 4 credits total may be taken on a S/U basis in any given semester, exclusive of courses only offered with a S/U option.
Generally, courses fit into only one distributive elective category. However, some departments offer more than one type. If there is any question, it is important to check with the advisors in the Office of Student Services to determine which category a course may be applied to.
