Brad Stone
President-Global Operations and Construction
Las Vegas Sands Corp.
Mr. Stone has been a member of the Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE:LVS) executive team since 1995. In his role as president of global operations and construction, Mr. Stone oversees the design, construction, and overall operations of the company’s integrated resort properties in the U.S. and Asia. He is also heavily involved in the company’s financial operations and its efforts to secure additional international and domestic development opportunities.
Mr. Stone is a graduate of the prestigious Hotel School at Cornell University and began his career as a trainee at New York City’s famed Plaza Hotel. He has held management positions at Marriott’s Essex House in New York and at Caesars Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, where he served as general manager.
In 1981 he joined the Sands Hotel Casino in Atlantic City as director of operations. Mr. Stone earned a series of promotions, first to vice president of hotel and casino operations, then to executive vice president, and finally to president and COO – where he became, at the age of 29, one of the youngest casino presidents in gaming history. He also served as executive vice president of its parent company, Pratt Hotel Corporation.
Since joining Las Vegas Sands, Mr. Stone has helped design, construct, and operate some of the world’s most recognized casino resort properties, including the company’s flagship 4,027-suite Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas, where he oversaw nearly every facet of the $1.5 billion mega-resort’s development.
Under Mr. Stone’s guidance the company has since opened the Venezia Tower (a hotel within The Venetian) and The Palazzo in Las Vegas. He also oversaw the development of the Sands Macao, which in addition to being the company’s first international property was also the first U.S.-operated facility to open in the People’s Republic of China’s Special Administrative Region of Macao.
Perhaps his biggest professional milestone came on August 28, 2007 with the opening of the $2.4 billion Venetian Macao. The staggering 10.5 million-square-foot facility has been dubbed the largest hotel in the world and has already attracted millions of visitors in the relatively short time it has been open.
Currently, Mr. Stone is overseeing the on-going development of Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem in Eastern Pennsylvania and the iconic Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. Both properties are expected to open in 2009.
