Peter Bowen '09
Program and Procurement Director
Born in Ottawa, Canada Peter Bowen comes from a family of entrepreneurs in the high-tech Industry. He has an older brother at Cornell in the Engineering Management Graduate Program. Ultimately Peter wants to attend the CIA for his Sommelier Certification and pursue a career in the beverage industry. His dream is to open a chain of night clubs around the world. He transferred to Cornell in the fall of ’06 as a sophomore, and was immediately enamored with HEC.
Peter’s experience in the hospitality industry began with a high school co-op placement in the Banquets Department of the Brookstreet Hotel in Kanata, Ontario. Next Peter served as a Spa Attendant at the Four Seasons Resort in Whistler, British Columbia. Most recently Peter worked in the areas of business development, public relations, marketing & communications and research for two San Francisco-based wine related companies, Your Personal Sommelier and Hip Tastes. The hospitality industry has quickly become a major passion in his life.
As a Re-Founding Father of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at Cornell, Peter is working hard to establish new membership and ensure a strong future vision for its brotherhood.
Peter tries to live his life with no fear, conquering his fears under the belief that ‘Fate Favors the Fearless.” His down time consists of traveling the world and activities such as bunji jumping, sky diving, and extreme scuba diving. He seeks adventure in all forms and brings this excitement to all aspects of his life.
Peter is currently a Junior in the School of Hotel Administration. In the 82nd Annual HEC Peter was a Front of House Beverage Team Function Manager where he planned and executed “an evening of art” cocktail event at the Johnson Art Museum. This year as the Program & Procurement Director Peter will be combining his past F&B experience with innovative ideas, positive energy and unbridled enthusiasm to provide an unforgettable HEC experience.
