Information for Hotel School Students

With the opening of the Robert A. and Jan M. Beck Center, there is increasing demand for the use of the new interview rooms, group study rooms as well as classrooms. The following booking procedures and rules have been established to ensure that use of all meeting space in Statler Hall is properly arranged and that individuals using these spaces understand their responsibilities.

Booking Interview & Group Study Rooms:

  • Binenkorb Staff will serve to coordinate use of the eight new Beck Center Interview Rooms and two Group Study Rooms.
  • The Career Management Office will have first rights for the use of all these rooms. A group may be asked to move to a different location if Career Management needs the room.
    • Rooms are to be booked for group meetings. Interview rooms are not to be used as private study offices.
    • Students can only book rooms for two hour blocks. It is possible for a group of three students to book a room in consecutive two hour blocks for a maximum of 6 hours.
    • Students are not allowed to schedule recurring meetings.

Students can e-mail or stop by the Binenkorb during normal operating hours to arrange for use of these rooms. When requesting a room via e-mail, please be sure to include: date, time, number of attendees, event name and contact person.

Once a reservation has been made, students can stop by the Binenkorb during normal operating hours and exchange their student ID for a key to the room. It is the student's responsibility to return the key and retrieve their ID at the end of their scheduled time.

Booking Atrium Space

The Binenkorb Staff will coordinate use of the Atrium Space in Statler Hall for student presentations and will communicate with Maintenance and Custodial Services for tables to be set up.

Users must remember that fire exits must be maintained at all times in these spaces.

To check availability and make reservations, please contact Binenkorb by calling 255-8872 or e-mailing rm245@cornell.edu or simply stop by the Bin during normal operation hours. Reservations should be made a minimum of one week in advance.

Booking Statler Classrooms:

The Office of Student Services will coordinate use of all Statler Classrooms.

To book a classroom, faculty and staff should contact sha_classrooms@sha.cornell.edu or stop by the Office of Student Services M-Th 8:00 - 4:30, Fri. 8:00-3:30 to check availability and make reservations.

E-mail requests must include: date, time, needed room size, event name and contact person. Reservations need to be made 24 hours in advance. Same day requests must be made no later than 2:30 p.m. Office of Student Services will communicate with Statler Custodial and Binenkorb staff to ensure that classrooms are unlocked when scheduled.

Rules for Use of Space:

  • Use of classrooms, meeting rooms and public spaces in Statler Hall must be arranged in advance. These spaces are only booked during normal Hotel School business hours typically from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. Different departments have responsibility for scheduling these spaces within the Statler. Please see booking procedures for details.
  • One individual must serve as the responsible party during a meeting or an event and must be in attendance.
  • Furniture may not be moved around in classrooms, meeting rooms or public spaces.
  • Food and beverages are not permitted in Statler Classrooms, the Nestle Library, the Binenkorb Computer Center or Beck Center interview or meeting rooms. Bottled water with screw top lids are allowed but must be stored on the floor.
  • Individuals using these rooms are responsible for cleaning up before leaving these rooms.
  • Occupancy limits are strictly enforced due to fire code and safety regulations. Maximum occupancies are posted in all rooms.
